in fact here is a note from DJ Roy

ALTHOUGH many people are of a certain age and appreciate older tunes, which predominantly is what’s played, it’s also worth mentioning that a younger clientele also support The Winking Man, and their tastes might be slightly different to yours.
Should a few songs from a more contemporary nature not be to your liking, please use the time productively; visit the bar, talk to friends or just try and listen to the music, you may grow to like it.
With many hundreds supporting the monthly rock night we’ll never all agree on the music played. It really is subjective!!
Throughout the evening the music does drift into various genres, so please, do not get all aggressive with the D.J or any other member of staff if a couple of songs are not on your wish list, as this resentment isn't nice, fair or respectful.
We’re all working extremely hard to make your visit to Britain’s highest altitude Club an experience to savour.
We really do value your custom.

Predominantly it is a Classic Rock night but we cant be stuck in the 80s or 90s and to encourage a new fan base the newer Rock will be played with most genres covered.
Send me your requests for the DJ and views on the music policy and what you want to our e mail address; after all it’s your night

Join our Facebook group the winkingman pub for updates of whats on here at winkers
and its a good place to look if you want more interaction about our Rock Night, But E mail those requests to me not the myspace page.
And check out this FANtastic site www.the-highwayman.co.uk its the best tribute to a legend venue.
and me well you can find me on FACEBOOK Peter Harvey be my friend, go on.
I want you to have the best night out so tell me what you think it needs if I hear nothing then I presume its going good.

Now this next bit never changes it just tells you what it’s about.

We do call our night a Classic Rock Night which means Classic Rock Music from the 70s to present, because the good tracks being played now could certainly be Classic tracks in a few years time as were the great bands of the 80s and 90s, and you cant live in the past.... we have to move on so please do expect some GOOD recent rock tracks.
If you do have any comments to improve the night tell me, I do listen.

We now offer Secure Bike Parking (weather permitting for you to use your bike) and it's covered by our digital CCT system
Fancy making a full night out of it? Campers welcome but book you space because it's limited at the moment.

Now if you don't know what the Highwayman was about read this,

30th May 2003 the end of an Era, The Highwayman Rock Venue Closed it's doors for the Last time after 28 years as the premier Rock venue in Staffordshire, That venue can neverbe replaced or substituted, But don't despair……….
We now have a great head banging experience with DJ Roy Goodhall , Simon & Dodge we continue the tradition with our Classic Rock night

My thanks go to Neil and Paul who came to us after the Wayman closed and kept us rockin at the Winking Man
